Capital Community College

Programs Offered: Certification in EMT Paramedic; Associate of Applied Science Degree in EMT Paramedic

Accredited by: Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs

Capital Community College offers an EMT Paramedic program that leads to certification. The college also offers an Associate of Applied Science Degree in EMT Paramedic.
The Paramedic certificate program is a three semester program. The first two semesters consist of Anatomy & Physiology I & II and EMT – Paramedic I & II. The final semester includes a Paramedic internship. Each semester will be a combination of lecture and lab.
Those who wish to gain their AAS degree will be required to take additional general education courses. The AAS degree program will take two years (five semesters) to complete.
Upon successful completion of this program students will be eligible to take the National Registry Exam for state licensure. Students will also be awarded certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support.



New Haven Sponsor Hospital

Programs Offered: Certification in EMT Basic

New Haven Sponsor Hospital offers an EMT Basic program that leads to certification.
The hospital offers courses at different times, making it convenient for students to fit this program in their schedule. Classes are held Monday, Wednesday and Friday from either 9am – 1pm or 6pm – 10pm. A mandatory class will also be held on one Saturday during the program from 8am – 5pm. The program is designed to be completed in less than four months.
The cost of this program is $900. This cost includes tuition, a practice valve, text books, a BP cuff, a stethoscope and a pen light.
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be eligible to sit for the National Registry Examination to obtain licensure as an EMT in the state of Connecticut.



American Professional Educational Services

Programs Offered: Certification in EMT Basic and EMT Paramedic

Location: Norwich (15 Thames St, Norwhich, CT 06360)

American Professional Educational Services offers EMT training at both the Basic and Paramedic levels. These EMT programs will lead to certification as an EMT once students successfully complete and pass the National Registry examination at their respective levels.
The EMT Basic program offers courses in both the day and evening. Students may choose to take this course in the fall, spring or summer semesters. The program can be completed in just a little over three months and students will complete a total of 200 hours of training. The program costs $850.
The EMT Paramedic program includes 1400 hours of training and can be completed in ten months. This program includes didactic and clinical instructions as well as a field internship.



Asnuntuck Community College

Programs Offered: Certification in EMT Basic

Location: Enfield (170 Elm Street, Enfield, CT 06082)

Asnuntuck Community College, located in Enfield, Connecticut, offers an EMT Basic program that can lead to certification. This is a non-credit program.
Students who enroll in this program will complete a total of 148 hours of training that will include didactic, lab, clinical and field components. Future applicants must be at least 18 years old to enroll in this program. They must also possess a high school diploma, GED, or the equivalent.
Once the program is successfully completed, students will be eligible to receive both Connecticut and National Certification as an EMT once they have completed and passed the National Registry Examination. They will then be prepared to work on an ambulance, hospital emergency department or other pre-hospital setting as an EMT.



Bridgeport Hospital

Programs Offered: Certification in EMT Basic, EMT Advanced and EMT Paramedic

Location: Bridgeport (267 Grant St, Bridgeport, CT 06610)

Bridgeport Hospital offers EMT training programs that will lead to certification at the Basic, Advanced and Paramedic levels. The hospital conveniently offers several different options and avenues to complete training.
The EMT Basic program can be completed either as a night course or an accelerated day course. The accelerated day course can be completed in less than two months. Classes are held Monday through Friday from 9am – 2pm. The night program can be completed in four months. Classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6pm – 10pm as well as two mandatory Saturdays.
The Paramedic program can be completed in one year and classes are held on Monday and Wednesday from 6pm – 10pm. Those who wish to enroll in the Paramedic program will complete didactic, lab, clinical and field components of training.



Bristol Hospital

Programs Offered: Certification in EMT Basic and EMT Intermediate

Location: Bristol (41 Brewster Road, Bristol, CT 06010)

Bristol Hospital offers EMT training courses at the Basic and Intermediate levels. These programs will lead to certification.
Successful completion of each individual program will enable students to take the National Registry examination. Once they pass the exam, they will become certified EMT’s in the nation and in the state of Connecticut. They will then be able to begin careers in the Emergency Medical Services field in the pre-hospital setting. Training will prepare them to treat, stabilize and transport ill or injured persons in the pre-hospital setting.
Those who are already EMT certified and whose certifications have expired or are approaching expiration, may enroll in the Refresher program that is offered through Bristol Hospital as well.



The Connecticut Medical Training Academy

Programs Offered: Certification in EMT Basic, EMT Intermediate and EMT Paramedic

Location: Windsor Locks (70 Main St., Windsor Locks, CT 06096)

The Connecticut Medical Training Program offers EMT training at the Basic, Intermediate and Paramedic levels. Each level of training leads to certification and eligibility to sit for the National Registry examination.
The EMT Basic program includes 175-190 hours of didactic and lab training as well as a 10 hour field internship. The total cost of this program is $825. Students can choose to enroll in the part-time spring or fall course or the full-time summer course.
The EMT Intermediate and Paramedic programs build on the foundation of the Basic program and provide advanced training. The total cost of the Intermediate program is $900 and the total cost of the Paramedic program is $6500.
All costs include tuition, textbooks, blood pressure cuff and stethoscope, lab and clinical fees, and insurance costs.



Danbury Hospital

Programs Offered: Certification in EMT Basic

Location: Danbury (24 Hospital Avenue, Danbury, CT 06810)

Danbury Hospital provides EMT training that can lead to certification at each level.
The EMT Basic program includes 150 hours of training that will prepare the individual to address airway problems, cardiac arrest, severe bleeding, and shock as well as stabilize wounds, fractures, childbirth and emotional crisis. Students will also be trained in emergency driving, maintaining critical equipment and record keeping.
The EMT Intermediate program builds on and enhances the knowledge gained in Basic training. This course will include specialized training in intravenous therapy, medication administration and advanced airway care. This program also includes 150 hours of training.
The EMT Paramedic program is the final and most advanced level training in EMS. As a paramedic, individuals will be trained in airway management, pharmacology, cardiac monitoring and much more.



Echo Hose Ambulance

Programs Offered: Certification in EMT Basic

Location: Shelton (286 Howe Avenue, Shelton, CT 06484)

Echo Hose Ambulance is a non-profit organization that, on top of being a full service ambulance agency, provides several training and certification courses. Included in these courses is an EMT training program that leads to certification. Echo Hose also coordinates and provides EMT practical exams along with the State of Connecticut. Echo Hose is located in Shelton, Connecticut.
The EMT Basic program will train individuals in automated external defibrillation, definitive airway adjunct, assisting patients with certain medications and more. This program offers evening courses with classes held on Monday and Wednesday from 6pm – 10pm. The total cost of this program is $675, including textbooks.
Upon successful completions of this program, students will be eligible to sit for the State of Connecticut EMT-B practical and written exam.



Greenwich Emergency Medical Service, Inc.

Programs Offered: Certification in EMT Basic

Location: Riverside (1111 East Putnam Avenue, CT 06878)

Greenwich Emergency Medical Service, Inc. offers an EMT Basic program that leads to certification.
EMT Basic training is an entry level program that will prepare individuals to work or volunteer on an emergency ambulance or similar pre-hospital setting.
This is a 155 hour course that includes skill performance, didactic presentations and clinical rotations. Students who successfully complete this program will be eligible to sit for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians exam and the Connecticut Department of Public Health.
Classes for this program are held on Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 6pm – 10pm as well as two Saturdays from 8am – 5pm. The cost for this program is $200 and the price includes all course materials.



Goodwin College

Programs Offered: Certification in EMT Paramedic

Location: East Hartford (One Riverside Drive, East Hartford, CT 06118)

Goodwin College is located in East Hartford, Connecticut and it offers an EMT Paramedic program that leads to certification.
This paramedic certificate program will place students in a variety of situations that they will likely face as a paramedic. These situations will include direct patient care in hospitals and on emergency vehicles, such as ambulances and fire trucks. Students will be trained in a combination of classroom instruction, laboratory time, clinical settings and field education.
Once students have successfully completed this program, they will be eligible to sit for the state licensure exam that is approved by the Department of Public Health, Office of Emergency Medical Services.
Once certification is gained, individuals will be enabled to work for fire departments, private ambulance services, police departments, and hospitals.



Hartford Hospital

Programs Offered: Certification in EMT Basic and EMT Paramedic

Location: Hartford (80 Seymour Street, Hartford, CT 06102)

Hartford Hospital offers EMT training at the Basic and Paramedic levels. Each of these training programs leads to certification as an EMT. The hospital also offers Refresher courses for both the EMT Basic and EMT Paramedic whose certification has expired or will soon expire.
The EMT Basic program costs $750 and does not include the cost of the textbook. This program includes 190 hours of training and can be completed in 2-4 months. Individuals may begin the program in the spring, summer or fall semester and may take classes during the day or evening.
The Paramedic program is for those who are already EMT or AEMT certified and want to further enhance their education and their careers. Students will be trained in intravenous therapies, intubation, cardiac monitoring, administration of various medications and more.



Manchester Community College

Programs Offered: Certification in EMT Basic

Location: Manchester (Great Path, Manchester, CT 06045)

Manchester Community College offers an Emergency Medical Technician program that will lead to certification. Students who successfully complete this program will be eligible to take the Connecticut state-certified EMT initial examination. They will then be prepared to work as an entry-level EMT in a fire department, ski patrol, ambulance or other emergency pre-hospital setting.
Those who wish to enroll in the EMT Paramedic program must be at least 18 years, or have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian. Once students are accepted into the program they will be required to attend at least 160 hours of training and pass each course with at least a grade of 70.
The program is made up of 32 sessions that meet on Tuesday and Thursday from 6pm-10pm and 11 Saturdays from 8am – 4pm. The cost of this program is $650.



Naugatuck Valley Community College

Programs Offered: Certification in EMT Basic

Location: Waterbury (750 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, CT 06708)

Naugatuck Valley Community College is located in Waterbury, Connecticut and offers an EMT Basic Training Program. This program will enable students to become EMT Basic Certified in the state of Connecticut.
Before individuals enroll in this program, they must be prepared to present immunization records, high school transcripts, college transcripts and SAT scores to Naugatuck Valley Community College.
Once students are enrolled in this six credit course they will be trained in basic emergency care and will be prepared to work in fire departments, ambulance companies and hospitals. Training includes classroom learning, clinical skills development, observations in emergency rooms and field training. Upon successful completion of this program, students will be eligible to take the Connecticut EMT Basic Certification Test.



New Britain Emergency Medical Services Academy

Programs Offered: Certification in EMT Basic and EMT Paramedic

Location: New Britain (185 Main Street, New Britain, CT 06050)

New Britain Emergency Medical Services Academy offers EMT programs that lead to certification at the Basic and Paramedic levels.
EMT Basic training is offered as both a day program and as an evening program. Each program is four months long and meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays and on occasional Saturdays. The day program is from 10am – 1pm and the evening program is from 5:45pm – 8:45pm. The cost of this program is $825. It includes 111 classroom hours, 37 lab hours and 18 ambulance ride time hours.
The EMT Paramedic program is for those who are already EMT-Basic certified and wish to further enhance both their education and professional careers. The Paramedic program is made of 690 hours of didactic training, 250 hours of a clinical internship and 250 hours of a field internship.



Norwalk Community College

Programs Offered: Certification in EMT Basic

Location: Norwalk, (188 Richards Avenue, Norwalk, CT 06854)

Norwalk Community College offers an EMT program that leads to certification at the Basic level. This is a non-credit program.
This EMT Basic program includes 39 sessions of training. Classes are held on Mondays and Thursdays from 6pm – 10pm and on occasional Saturdays from 8am – 4pm. The tuition for this program is $999.
Individuals who enroll in this program will be trained in First Aid, patient assessments, extrications, communication, hazardous materials, terrorism awareness and other necessary skills and knowledge that are needed for becoming a certified EMT.
This program meets the National Registry and Connecticut requirements for EMT’s. Upon successful completion of the program, students will be eligible to sit for the National Registry exam.



Quinebaug Valley Community College

Programs Offered: Certification in EMT Basic

Location: Danielson (742 Upper Maple Street, Danielson, CT 06239); Willimantic (729 Main Street, Willimantic, CT 06226)

Quinebaug Valley Community College offers an EMT Basic program that leads to certification.
This program includes 154 hours of training. Training is made up of classroom lecture time, hands-on practical training and emergency department observation time. Students will study basic human anatomy and physiology, responses to emergencies and the proper ways to treat and transport ill or injured persons. The program costs $850. Classes are held on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 6pm – 10pm and students can finish the program in as little as three months.
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be prepared to take the National Registry EMT-Basic Certification CAT and practical exam. Once the exam is completed and passed, they will then be able to assess an emergency scene, control bleeding, assist with childbirth and more.



Stamford Emergency Medical Services

Programs Offered: Certification in EMT Basic

Location: Stamford (684 Long Ridge Road, Stamford, CT 06902)

Stamford Emergency Medical Services is a non-profit charitable organization that provides paramedic ambulance services. They also offer an EMT Basic program that leads to certification.
This is a four month EMT program. Students will take classes on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7pm – 11pm. Students will also be required to attend five Saturday classes. These classes will be held from 8am – 5pm.
The EMT Basic program at Stamford Emergency Medical Services includes classroom instruction time, a clinical rotation and riding time on an ambulance. The clinical rotation time will take place in the Emergency Room at The Stamford Hospital. Students will be required to complete a minimum of 160 hours of training to successfully complete the program.



Yale New Haven Hospital

Programs Offered: Certification in EMT Basic and EMT Paramedic

Location: New Haven (20 York Street, New Haven, CT 06510)

Yale New Haven Hospital is located in New Haven, Connecticut. This hospital conveniently offers training in the Emergency Medical Services field. Entry-level students may enroll in the EMT Basic program. Those who are already EMT Basic certified may enroll in the EMT Paramedic program. Both programs will enable students to become EMT certified in the state of Connecticut and gain national registration.
The EMT Basic program is a 145 hour program. Classes are held two days during the week or in the evenings. Those who complete this program will be prepared to provide basic life support to ill or injured persons.
The Paramedic program is offered as an evening program beginning in January or a day program beginning in September. Students will complete didactic sessions, hospital clinic rotations and field internships.
